The Swedish government, which came to power in 2022, promising to tighten immigration from the third world, is now shown in a new survey to be handing out more citizenships than before.

Only In February, a a total of 6,376 new citizenships were granted. This represents an increase from 2024, when the average was 5,466 per month, news website Riks reports, with data taken from the Swedish Migration Agency.

Most new citizens come from countries such as Syria, Afghanistan, India, Eritrea, and Poland.

The Swedish right-wing government, which consists of a mix of conservatives and liberals in a coalition government, with parties like the Moderaterna, the Christian Democrats and the Liberals, backed by the country’s so-called “extreme right” party, the Sweden Democrats (SD), in order to even have power in the country, does not seem to be living up to its promises of a reduced immigration to its voters.
